On The Mend

I think we're on the mend, we were able to wean off of around-the-clock medication by Thursday and he got back to being able to get to sleep on his own. Yeah! We can now just lay him in his crib again at night and for naps and he goes right to sleep with no fussing. We're pretty lucky with that, he actually prefers to go to sleep on his own (with the exception of when he feels crummy, of course). We've noticed that he is already sleeping better, he is not near as loud when we walk in to give him his final feed late at night. He was snoring pretty badly the first few days after surgery and couldn't breathe at all through his nose, but now its much, much clearer. They said it could take about six weeks for the snoring from swelling to completely stop. Eating continues to improve, although I'd like it to be a little more. We started back on the medication to increase appetite tonight (we do two weeks on-two weeks off), so we hope for a big boost in calories this week!

Here's a few pictures from the weekend. There's a funny story that goes along with one of them... when we put the air splint on his right arm, he doesn't like to use his left arm and gets very frustrated when he sees a toy in front of him. I usually help him get it into his hand so he can start to move it around and he can usually make it up to his mouth. Yesterday I looked down and he had it in his mouth... but with no hands, shaking his head back and forth like a dog to make noise. It was so cute. It was easier just to use his mouth than that pesky left hand! Ha.
