New Antibiotics

Thursday night Lucas spiked a fever, and he woke up with it again Friday morning. We went to the pediatrician and the ear infection had gotten worse. It went from early detection on Monday to very bad on Friday, the antibiotics weren't working. So, we got a new prescription... this would be his 4th round of antibiotics for ear infections in two months! His fever stuck around until Sunday, so this was definitely a tough one.

I talk to Dr. Yaun's office and the only way to get a quick CT is to go to the ER. She only sees patients by appointment on Wednesdays in her clinic, and CT's are scheduled a few weeks in advance for these follow-up appointments. I learned that this is an insurance hurdle, not one imposed by her office. You need prior insurance approval to do a CT by appointment (and you can't get approval in less than a few days), but if you go to the ER you can get one immediately. Ugh, what a hassle...the last place we want to go is to the ER, especially if it is not an emergency situation! We decide to wait it out through the weekend, pretty worried and upset about the possibility of another surgery.
